On this Mother’s Day, I reflect on the journey that has shaped me—not just as a mother, but as a woman committed to building a better, cleaner, and more equitable world. I am Sonia Singh, CEO of Ziptrax CleanTech and Co-Founder of Zipbolt Innovations. Through my work in clean energy and sustainable technology, I strive every day to redefine what it means to be a mother in today’s world, one driven by purpose, innovation, and impact.

The Anatomy of Impact

My academic journey began with a bachelor’s in biology, followed by a Master’s in Sociology and a Postgraduate degree in Management. This unique blend of science, social systems, and strategic thinking has always shaped how I see the world. Before I stepped into the world of technology and entrepreneurship, my mission was rooted in saving lives. As a founding member of Rotary Blood Bank in New Delhi, I had the privilege of helping build one of the city’s most crucial healthcare infrastructures—ensuring thousands had access to safe blood donations when they needed it most.

My Journey at Ziptrax

The leap into clean tech wasn’t just a career move—it was a calling. At Ziptrax, I lead a team dedicated to giving second life to end-of-life lithium-ion batteries. These repurposed batteries now power electric vehicles, homes, and renewable energy grids—advancing a circular energy economy that’s both practical and sustainable. At Zipbolt, we are creating AI-enabled financial tools that make EV adoption more accessible, especially for underserved communities that have long been left behind in the green transition.

What makes this journey truly special is that I haven’t walked it alone. My son has been by my side—not just as a supporter, but as a co-visionary and partner. Together, we’ve co-created businesses that blend innovation with intention. Watching him grow into a business leader with values rooted in purpose, resilience, and environmental responsibility has been one of my proudest achievements. Our journey proves that legacy isn’t just about what we leave behind—it’s about who we build it with.

India & the UAE Connection

Earlier this year, I was honored to speak at the World Future Energy Summit 2025 in Abu Dhabi, hosted by MASDAR. Out of thousands of applicants, only 30 women were selected to speak—and I was humbled to be among them. It wasn’t just a personal milestone; it was a moment that represented the growing collaboration between India and the UAE in sustainable innovation. It affirmed that our efforts in clean tech are resonating across borders and cultures.

Today, my work spans two nations that are shaping the future of energy—India and the UAE. As a woman leader and a mother, I carry a mission that transcends geography. I advocate for a future built on recycling, repurposing, and rethinking how we power our lives—not only for our generation but for those that follow.

When I see mothers building something that brings change, instils confidence, and breaks stereotypes, it fills me with unparalleled joy. It’s not always about achieving success, but I believe every effort deserves appreciation. Today, women, regardless of their age are creating, entering entrepreneurship, exploring niche business segments, harnessing technology, and much more. There are countless examples around us that make me realize how women’s inherent qualities often inspire them to build with care, compassion, and a focus on the greater good.

This Mother’s Day, I celebrate not just the joy of motherhood, but the power it gives me to create, nurture, and lead. I hope my story reminds others that when mothers lead with purpose, the world doesn’t just change—it heals.
